Whether it’s hosted to celebrate a special occasion, like a bridal shower or birthday party, or created for other purposes, like a charity fundraiser, a tea party is a lovely and ladylike way to spend a delightful afternoon with a fabulous group of women.
A traditional afternoon tea party can be coordinated by using floral tea cups, creating a myriad of delectable finger sandwiches and bite-sized appetizers, and displaying an assortment of tantalizing petit fours and sugary treats. A tea party can either be hosted in your home or garden, making it especially easy (and affordable) to arrange.
For decor, it’s best to keep things simple and tasteful for this ladylike party. Pretty, pastel-colored tablecloths (in lace, eyelet, or floral prints) and fresh flower centerpieces (like tea roses in different sized vases) are all you need to set the stage. Pink balloons instantly add a festive touch to the party.
An easy game to play during the party is called ‘Hot Gossip’. Each guest is given a list of questions (on a piece of paper) when they arrive at the party. Each question pertains to the tea party host. To figure out the answers, guests are encourage to mix and mingle with each other, to find out who knows which answers. At the end, the answers are discussed, and the person with the most correct answers wins a prize, like a Gift Basket.
As party favors, encourage your guests to take home the tea cup they used during the party – this is a great way for them to fondly remember the special occasion for years to come.
